The city of Vienna was for centuries the imperial capital and resident city of the Habsburgs and developed at this time to a cultural and political center of Europe.

As the fourth most populated city in the world, after London, New York and Paris, Vienna has consisted of two million inhabitants. After the end of World War I , however Vienna has lost about one quarter of that population.

At the request of the Republic of Austria, the Old Town of Vienna, even today an evidence of the Habsburg rule and the Schönbrunn Palace were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

St. Stephen's Cathedral is, as like the Ferris Wheel in the Prater and many other attractions, one of Vienna's landmarks and stands as one of the tallest buildings in the city and as a metropolitan church in the center of Vienna.
